Say No To Judgemental Thinking01.22.2012
Jesus Christ said, “Before you point out the sliver in your neighbors eye, pluck the beam out of your own.” This is my somewhat liberal paraphrase at least.
When Rebecca and I have spent time with His Holiness The Dalai Lama, his quote was, “It is far more useful to be aware of a single shortcoming in ourselves than it is to be aware of a thousand shortcomings in somebody else.”
The Twelve Step Program discourages us from taking anyone else’s inventory, but rather in the Fourth Step encourages us to take our own inventory. In order for us to address and change any issue within ourselves, we, ” must be willing to take a moral, fearless inventory of ourselves.” We can’t change anything about ourselves that we aren’t willing to admit is there.
While it takes courage to face oneself, it is this willingness that empowers a person to transform their script, their life.
My wish for you is that you find the courage to do just that.
